If Marriage was Outlawed Today

If marriage was outlawed today 1
Would you give in
And start living in sin
If marriage was outlawed today

If marriage was outlawed today
Would you take a chance
On a martyred romance
Or would you give in
And start living in sin
If marriage was outlawed today

If marriage was outlawed today
Would you still propose
With a ring and a rose
Would you take a chance
On a martyred romance
Or would you give in
And start living in sin
If marriage was outlawed today

If marriage was outlawed today
Would you look at dresses
And do up your tresses
Would you look for a priest
Or sea captain at least
Would you take a chance
On a martyred romance
Or would you give in
And start living in sin
If marriage was outlawed today

If marriage was outlawed today
Would you get a tux
And drop a few bucks
On a ring for her finger
And then would you bring her
To a love nest now odd
‘Cause it’s sanctioned by God
Would you take a chance
On a martyred romance
Or would you give in
And start living in sin
If marriage was outlawed today

If marriage was outlawed today
Would you still think that love
Was sent from God above
That marriage was meant
To be a sacrament
Would you give your life
To make her your wife
Would you take a chance
On a martyred romance
If marriage was outlawed today

If marriage was outlawed today
And you were a priest
Or sea captain at least
Would you still try to rate
As minister of State
Or would you simply do
What God called you to
Would you take a chance
On a martyred romance
Or would you give in
And start living in sin
If marriage was outlawed today
